Whether you’re just starting or you have been in business for several years, creating consistent and high-quality content is essential for building your brand, engaging your audience, and driving business growth. However, without proper organisation, it can be overwhelming and challenging to maintain consistency in your content creation efforts.

Start By Define Your Content Goals:

Before diving into content planning, it’s important to define your content goals. Ask yourself;

  • What are the messages you want to be sharing with your community?
  • Who is your target audience?
  • Where does your target audience consume the most content?
  • More importantly, where do they engage the most?
  • Finally, the biggest goal to think about is what is a reasonable goal for your consistency.

I know since becoming a mum that it’s not reasonable to think I’m going to be creating daily TikToks, Reals, and Stories. What is reasonable in this season of life is 2 blogs a week, 5 IG posts, 10 daily pins, and repurposing those pieces of content onto Facebook. I can do all of these on a Sunday while my husband is having daddy’s day out with TJ and I can preschedule it for the week ahead and engage during naptime. If I manage to get some ad hoc stories onto my IG feed then I feel like I’m winning.

Creating quality content that is connecting with you, my audience, engages with you, and shares the realities of business are more important in this stage of my business and life vs dancing and pointing in a reel (although that might come one day)

Create a Content Calendar:

A content calendar is an invaluable tool for organising content creation efforts. Think about all those wonderful ideas you might have for a blog or social media post. Where do you currently put these? A sticky note on your monitor, a list in a notebook. Creating a content calendar can help to house these ideas and plan your content so you can get the most impact on your work.

To create your content calendar, start by identifying where you are going to house this content, my preferred space is within a project management system like Asana or ClickUp (you can grab my templates here). If you don’t have a project management system yet you can use a simple spreadsheet or maybe this is the sign to start creating your system.

Then it’s time to think about identifying key themes, topics, and keywords that align with your brand and resonate with your target audience. Then, create a monthly or quarterly calendar that outlines what content you will publish and when. This allows you to plan ahead, maintain consistency, and ensure a steady flow of content that aligns with your overall strategy.

One final hint when planning your content is to ask yourself what are you currently working on promoting in your business. Can you create content to support seeding sales into your promotion?

Establish Content Categories:

Organising your content into categories can help you streamline your creative process and ensure a diverse range of topics for your audience. Consider your industry, the interests of your target audience, and your expertise. Identify a set of content categories that you can rotate through to provide variety and maintain engagement. For example, if you’re in the fitness industry, your categories could include workout tips, nutrition advice, success stories, and industry trends. Having predefined categories not only gives you a clear roadmap for content creation but also allows your audience to anticipate and engage with specific topics they find most valuable.

Develop a Content Creation Workflow:

To maintain consistency, it’s essential to establish a content creation workflow that suits your needs. This includes defining roles and responsibilities, outlining the steps involved in content creation (such as research, writing, editing, and design), and setting deadlines. By breaking down the process into manageable tasks, you can streamline your workflow, ensure each piece of content meets your quality standards, and avoid last-minute rushes. Consider using project management tools or content creation platforms to collaborate effectively with team members and track progress – you can see my Asana & ClickUp templates here.

Repurpose and Recycle Content:

Creating new content from scratch can be time-consuming and after the effort you’ve gone into to create your content why waste it on one post? To maximise your efforts and maintain consistency, repurpose and recycle your existing content. Take a blog post and turn it into a video or podcast episode. Transform a webinar into a series of blog posts. Use snippets from your social media posts to create engaging infographics. By repurposing content, you not only save time but also reach different segments of your audience through various mediums. Remember to adapt the content to suit the specific platform or format while maintaining its core message.

Consistency is key when it comes to content creation. By implementing these strategies and organising your content effectively, you’ll not only streamline your content creation process but also establish a strong brand presence and build lasting connections with your audience.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
