You sit down to work and suddenly, two hours have passed.
You’ve switched tabs a dozen times, started five tasks, answered DMs, and Googled one more “how to fix your offer” question.
Your to-do list is full. But your brain is spinning, and nothing feels clear.
This is spiral mode. You’re busy but not focused, motivated but constantly second-guessing.
If this is where you’ve been living lately, you’re not alone. And you’re not broken.
You’re just distracted by things that feel important, but quietly pull you away from what actually matters.
Here are the three biggest distractions I see holding brilliant, capable women back, and what to do instead.
1. Researching Instead of Deciding
You have a plan to write your offer page.
But first you scroll someone else’s sales page, just to see how they’re doing it. Then you read a blog about conversions. Then you compare price points.
Before you know it, you’re five tabs deep into someone else’s strategy, and your own ideas feel smaller by the second.
This kind of research feels productive, but it often masks indecision.
You’re not learning. You’re avoiding.
What to do instead:
Decide first, refine later.
Set a timer.
Write your own thoughts before looking at anyone else’s work.
Trust your process, then review with clear eyes, not from a spiral.
2. Over-Personalising Everything
That post didn’t land? Must be because your audience hates you.
That client rescheduled? Probably a sign they’re about to leave.
That low-view Reel? Clearly means your message is off.
This is what happens when your brain ties every piece of data to your self-worth.
It’s not just exhausting. It pulls you off track every time something small goes sideways.
What to do instead:
Zoom out.
Ask yourself:
- What was the intention behind this piece of content or action?
- Does one data point really mean something is wrong?
- If a client did this, what would I tell her?
You don’t need to stop caring.
You just need to stop assigning meaning that doesn’t belong.
3. Reacting Instead of Leading
You planned to write. But then a DM came in. A client had a question. A notification popped up.
Now you’re chasing small fires all day instead of moving forward with what you actually prioritised.
This reactive loop is one of the most common ways women stay busy but stuck.
Because it keeps you feeling needed, but also scattered.
You’re being pulled, not leading.
What to do instead:
Build containers that protect your focus.
That could mean:
- Turning notifications off while you work
- Batch checking messages at set times
- Pre-building your week inside Notion so you know what matters most
This is not about rigid routines. It’s about protecting the space you need to think and move clearly.
Clarity Doesn’t Come From Doing More
You don’t spiral because you’re lazy, distracted, or unmotivated.
You spiral because your brain is full, your boundaries are blurred, and your business doesn’t have the structure to hold what you’re carrying.
You don’t need to hustle harder.
You just need space, support, and a way of working that works for you.
